Religion and Medicine

Together with sociologist Wendy Cadge, I conducted a survey of 300 doctors (those in the fields of pediatric oncology and pediatrics) who teach at research hospitals, as well as 30 in-depth interviews with physicians at these institutions. This research examines the categories that doctors develop for understanding the connection between medicine and religion in the context of their work and personal lives. Findings from this study will be used to build a larger study that examines approaches to religion and spirituality among physicians in different fields of medicine.
